The 2016 Subaru Legacy seats 5 comfortably and is available in four trim levels. The base model Legacy 2.5i comes well-equipped with 17" wheels, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, height-adjustable driver seat, automatic headlights, power accessories, rearview camera, touchscreen infotainment system with auxiliary, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and more. Stepping up to the 2.5i Premium trim level adds alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Subaru Starlink telematics, an upgraded infotainment system and more. The 2.5i Limited trim features standard equipment such as 18" alloy wheels, comfort-tuned suspension, leather upholstery, power seats with driver memory settings, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert system and more. Optional features on the 2.5i Premium and Limited trim levels include navigation, sunroof, Subaru Eyesight driver assist system and more. the top of the 2016 Legacy trim ladder is the 3.6R Limited which has the same standard features and available options as the 2.5i Limited, but adds xenon headlights and a significantly more powerful 3.6L V6 BOXER engine.
Performance is excellent, but safety is of utmost importance. With the 2016 Subaru Legacy, safety is made the first priority. The 2016 Legacy includes an antitheft security system with engine immobilizer, multiple air bags, 3-point seatbelts, and whiplash protection for the front seat driver and passenger and more. The 2016 Legacy earned 5-stars in government crash testing and has been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick. Every new 2016 Legacy comes standard with a rear view camera and Premium and Limited trim levels feature the option of the Subaru Eyesight driver assist system. When equipped with Eyesight, the 2016 Impreza is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+.
The 2016 Subaru Legacy comes standard with one of two horizontally-opposed Subaru BOXER engines: the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine standard on the 2.5i, 2.5i Premium and 2.5i Limited models produces 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable-speed automatic transmission and EPA estimated highway mileage is up to 36 MPG. The 3.6L V6 BOXER engine included at the 3.6R Limited trim level is significantly more powerful, producing 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. Also paired with the CVT, mileage on the V6 model is estimated at up to 29 MPG. All-wheel drive is standard at every trim level as is 4-wheel independent suspension.
