2016 Subaru WRX Awarded IIHS’ Highest Standard of Safety “2015 TOP SAFETY PICK +”

Seven models have earned 2015 safety awards from IIHS.
Subaru, today announced that the Insurance IIHS has awarded the highest standard of safety, 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) along with the highest possible rating of “Superior” for front crash prevention to the 2016 Subaru WRX , equipped with Subaru’s EyeSight* driver assist technology. By adopting the EyeSight for 2016 model, WRX earned 6 of 6 points for front crash prevention. Including 2016 Subaru WRX, Subaru has seven models that have earned 2015 safety awards from IIHS ? six with TOP SAFETY PICK+ and one with TOP SAFETY PICK.

This special edition, top of the line WRX STI comes with a very long list of toys and tune-age, with a maximum power output of around 320 to 330 hp (updated), fully adjustable suspension, torque-vectoring, Brembo brakes, custom 19 inch rims and tires, and a large front spoiler.

New Subaru Outback and Next Impreza Previewed by Tokyo Concepts

While the Tokyo auto show is often a venue for Japanese automakers to get extra-weird with their concept cars, Subaru’s two show cars amount to a fairly straightforward preview of the next-generation Outback and Impreza hatchback.

The star of the show for Subaru is the Viziv Future Concept—“Viziv” is said to be derived from “Vision for Innovation,” and “Future Concept” is pretty self-explanatory. Draped in some of the most stylish, well-proportioned sheetmetal we’ve seen from Subaru, the Viziv is a two-door, but its design is said to preview the next-generation Outback.

Impreza 5-door Concept

Subaru’s second world premiere at Tokyo will be the Impreza 5-door Concept, of which the company has released two sketches. No powertrain details are forthcoming, but we’ll learn more once the concept makes its in-the-flesh debut later this month.  Incorporating Subaru’s new design language, the Impreza hatchback employs C-shaped headlamps, a sloping greenhouse, and interconnected front and rear fender flares.
